AVIWEST bonded cellular solution enabled flawless live streaming from a race car at 185km/h.

FRA: AVIWEST, a leading provider of live video contribution solutions, has announced that ADTEL, the company's distributor for the Latin American region, deployed AVIWEST's flagship PRO3 and AIR320 bonded cellular transmitters for a live broadcast of the 2022 national car racing championship Campeonato Nacional de Automovilismo (CNA) in Bogota, Colombia. Coverage included both the race and qualifying sessions.

The AVIWEST PRO3 unit was installed inside race driver Daniel Fernandez's car during the qualifying and racing laps, offering an immersive live experience for fans on his Facebook and YouTube pages. To track Fernandez's location, monitor the car's status, and communicate with him in real time, the racing team in the pit received a low-latency HD video return thanks to AVIWEST's AIR320 encoder paired with an external QUAD CellLink active 4G/3G multi-antenna.

"The AVIWEST solution enabled us to flawlessly broadcast live over 4G/3G networks at 185 km per hour. Moreover, it allowed us to dramatically streamline our technical setup," said Andrés Rojas, Broadcast Account Manager at ADTEL LATAM. "With AVIWEST, there was no need to install numerous HF antennas and deploy multiple cables all around the circuit, which makes things much easier and is far less costly."

ADTEL used six of the eight internal modems embedded in the AVIWEST PRO3 Series to stream live directly to social media platforms over cellular networks at 4.5 Mbps with 800 ms latency. With the AIR320, they had two internal modems - combined with the additional four QUAD CellLink modems - for the video return function. Leveraging AVIWEST's two-time Emmy® Award-winning Safe Stream Transport (SST) technology, both field units could aggregate multiple IP network connections and dynamically adapt video bit rates according to network bandwidth fluctuations. With SST, broadcasters can effectively protect streaming content and support the retransmission of lost data to offer the best video quality for their audience.

"For sports broadcasters, AVIWEST field units offer greater mobility and efficiency thanks to their compact size and light weight. They can move around freely and cover sporting performances at the highest quality, including HD and 4K/UHD, with less equipment required," said Italo Marinello, Sales Manager at AVIWEST LATAM.
