USSI Global Ready to Guide Broadcasters Through Next Phase of C-Band Spectrum Transition
- 30 July, 2026
Turnkey managed services, engineering expertise and Media Transport Solutions Lab prepare broadcasters and satellite operators for evolving media distribution architectures...
USA: Following the recent Federal Communications Commission (FCC) announcement outlining the
next phase of C-band spectrum clearing, USSI Global confirm its readiness to help broadcasters, satellite network operators and media organizations navigate one of the industry's most complex media transport transitions to date. Building on its extensive experience supporting the first C-band clearing initiative,
USSI Global offers comprehensive engineering, project management and managed services to help
customers evaluate and implement the optimal transport strategy for their operations.
The FCC's latest initiative follows the successful multi-year effort that reallocated the lower 300MHz of
C-band spectrum for wireless services while relocating broadcasters to the remaining upper spectrum.
The next phase is expected to require a far more complex migration, as many existing satellite users will likely transition beyond traditional C-band infrastructure to ensure long-term continuity for contribution and distribution services. USSI Global has expanded its service portfolio accordingly, providing customers with a single partner capable of managing every stage of the transition.
"The first C-band clearing initiative required meticulous planning, engineering and execution, but broadcasters ultimately remained within the same satellite ecosystem," said Ted Korte, Vice President of Engineering and Technology, USSI Global. "This next phase presents
a much broader set of engineering decisions. Every broadcaster's network is unique,
and success depends on understanding the performance, resiliency and operational
implications of each transport option before making that transition. Our goal is
to help customers make those decisions with confidence."
USSI Global's turnkey managed services encompass every aspect of migration planning and execution, including customer outreach through dedicated call center resources, site surveys, RF engineering, terrestrial IP connectivity and networking, equipment procurement, warehousing, logistics, kitting,
field deployment, commissioning and long-term operational support. The company's field teams also provide satellite infrastructure upgrades including antenna replacements, feed assemblies, filters, antenna repointing, IRD integration and other RF modifications required to support evolving frequency plans and transport architectures. These proven capabilities build directly on USSI Global's leadership role during
the first C-band transition while expanding support for next-generation distribution technologies.
Central to this expanded strategy is the USSI Global Media Transport Solutions Lab, a hardware-agnostic testing environment designed to help broadcasters evaluate resilient media delivery workflows across satellite, terrestrial IP and cloud-based infrastructures. The lab enables customers to compare connectivity strategies, redundancy models, latency characteristics and hybrid architectures under real-world operating conditions before committing to production deployments. Engineers can also evaluate performance across multiple last-mile connectivity options - including Ku-band, enterprise fiber, fixed wireless,
LTE/5G and LEO satellite services - to identify the optimal balance of reliability, performance and
cost for each deployment.
"The future of media distribution will almost certainly involve a combination of technologies rather than a single transport platform," Korte said. "Our role is not to promote one technology over another, but to help customers evaluate every option in our Media Transport Solutions Lab, and then manage every phase of implementation from planning through ongoing operational support."
“With decades of experience managing large-scale broadcast infrastructure projects,
USSI Global remains committed to helping broadcasters and satellite operators navigate industry transitions with confidence while minimizing operational risk, accelerating deployment timelines and ensuring uninterrupted media distribution throughout every
phase of implementation,” said Anthony Morelli, President and CEO, USSI Global.
