Qligent Welcomes Return of John Shoemaker

  • 13 April, 2023

USA: Qligent, an innovative provider of cloud-based media delivery quality assurance solutions, announces that John Shoemaker pictured rejoins the company as Director of Sales and Business Development, effective immediately. Reporting to Qligent CEO Brick Eksten, Shoemaker is responsible for business growth initiatives throughout the Americas and United Kingdom.

Shoemaker spent five years (2016-2021) with Qligent as Director of Sales, a period over which the company evolved from a start-up into a globally recognized brand specializing in QoS, QoE and compliance monitoring. Shoemaker’s sales and customer relationship skills played a large role in that growth, having secured many of the company’s largest customer contracts for Qligent’s Vision monitoring and analysis platform.

Shoemaker’s return is well-timed as Qligent prepares to bring its latest version of Vision to market, which will take the company and its technology into new territory. “Qligent has been focused on developing Vision 5, which will provide users with greater visibility across their entire media supply chain,” he said. “This is a solution that will speak to a broader spectrum of enterprise-level media companies, and allow users to drill deeper into the elements of how media moves through an entire chain.”

More specific to NAB Show 2023 is Vision 3 with ATSC 3.0, which Qligent will introduce and demonstrate in Meeting Room N3304. This solution will help broadcasters monitor ATSC 3.0 signals today with the same quality assurance they have when using Vision 3 to monitor ATSC 1.0 and streaming media.
Vision 3 is Qligent’s current platform and is in wide use today for QoS, QoE and compliance monitoring;
the ATSC 3.0 module applies the same capabilities for NextGen TV networks.
Qligent will also offer a preview of Vision 5 in the same meeting space.

Vision 5, to be released in Q4, will integrate a detailed analytics platform to help users access the underlying information that sheds light on complete media supply chain performance. While that includes QoS/QoE/compliance monitoring, it shifts the focus to deeper end-to-end monitoring of high-scale networks. “We are no longer looking at just video and audio,” said Shoemaker. “Vision 5 considers the role of the mover. That could be the transmitter or the public internet. Our analytics will help users access performance data from anywhere inside the plant or as media moves between locations, including on-prem facilities and the cloud.”

“John’s return comes at an intriguing time for Qligent, our customers and the media and entertainment industry at large,” said Eksten. “This is a rapidly changing industry that is ripe with new opportunity, yet moves at a very gradual and careful pace on the road to change. John’s strong business relationships and technical expertise will guide our customers toward new platforms and ideas that help them face their present and future challenges. His extensive knowledge of broadcast and satellite delivery systems has us especially excited, given the role that Vision 5 and future Qligent solutions will play in helping these customers adapt to change.”
