BGR: PlayBox Neo, a leading provider of media playout solutions, enjoyed its most successful NAB Show in memory, with multiple sales closed on the show floor; a prestigious NAB “Best of Show” Award; four days of back-to-back prescheduled meetings; and several, key enhancements to the company’s range of broadcast TV channel branding and playout solutions on display. Just prior to the show, PlayBox Neo announced that the largest independent broadcaster in the Caribbean and Central America, CalaTelevision, would deploy its Cloud2TV cloud-based playout system for critical, regional weather reports airing on the CalaWeather channel.

“The enthusiastic response from attendees and customers at NAB was a strong vote of confidence in our product development,” said Van Duke, Director of U.S. Operations, PlayBox Neo. “We couldn’t be happier with the reception our new technology received. I was truly struck by the range of visitors to our booth. We had representatives of small government and educational facilities up to large network groups. Our latest updates reinforce our belief that you don’t need the largest budget to have top-notch playout. Our solutions are installer- and operator friendly, cost-effective, and backed by 24/7 technical staff support.”

Pavlin Rahnev, PlayBox Neo Founder and CEO added: “NAB was a great opportunity to meet potential as well as existing customers, distribution partners, and system integrators. We received very positive feedback on the reliability, efficiency, and scalability of our software. PlayBox Neo continues to lead the way in producing playout and channel branding solutions that are practical, easy to operate, and highly robust.”

Among the advances PlayBox Neo introduced during NAB was an optimized integration of emergency alerts into the latest version of its PlayBox Neo Suite. The new EAS (Emergency Alert System) interface provides broadcasters with increased flexibility when airing emergency alerts and reduces the need for potential advertiser make-goods. New expansions to the feature set of TS Time Delay include built-in decoders and encoders plus the ability to transcode output stream parameters such as data format, video resolution and frame rate. Timing adjustment can now be adjusted over a wider range. The latest generations of AirBox Neo-20 playout, ProductionAirBox Neo-20 production playout, Media Gateway live media delivery and distribution, and the Channel-in-a-Box television branding and playout system were also on display.

The new Media Gateway received a NAB “Best of Show” award. The Media Gateway allows the entire process of playout routing and decoding to be handled in software. This eliminates the capital cost needed to operate hardware routers, codecs and related devices. The PlayBox Neo Media Gateway can be installed onsite or in the cloud. Integral software codecs allow signals to be converted between SDI, NDI, SRT, UDP and RTP. Video and audio content can be sourced directly from a desktop screen and delivered as live feeds. A built-in, web-based, multi-viewer includes automated black-frame and frozen-frame alarms. It shows audio and video for all inputs, including built-in visual and audible alarms. Input from SDI, NDI and decoded IP can be sent to any output or multiple outputs. It provides automatic or manual switching of Mpeg TS (transport stream) streaming. All inputs, outputs, encoders and decoders can be adapted to user needs through a simple licensing update.

“Based on our experience at NAB, we are extremely optimistic as we move forward working closely with our customers,” said Duke. “And we’ll have key updates and customer news to share shortly based on input received and sales made last week. Many thanks to the NAB organization for producing such a successful convention.”
