ESP: Premier Radio is a new private broadcaster in Nigeria working in Kano State in the north of the country. It is the second largest state after the capital with a potential audience of over 19 million people, and a rich history and culture with its own languages such as Hausa and Fulfulde. Premier Radio is essentially a community radio station with sports variety sports, news and entertainment programming, focused on the country's Kano culture and events such as the Durbar Equestrian Festival.

Premier Radio's technical management has fully relied on AEQ technology for the design of its main broadcast studios, due to its robustness, ease of operation and modular design.

AEQ has delivered all the electronic material for the project, including two AEQ CAPITOL digital consoles, the AEQ AUDIOPLUS automation system, the AEQ PHOENIX audiocodecs, the RPIX VisualRadio system, and of course all the cabling, patch-panels, and auxiliary material such as microphones, headphones, multimedia recorders, loudspeakers or PCs as a complete turnkey solution.

Mr. Abba Mohammed Dabo, Premier Radio's Director commented: "The radio station is very satisfied and thanks to the equipment implemented, the audio quality has improved considerably".

AEQ CAPITOL IP is an 8-channel fixed configuration Digital Audio mixing console with a wide input capacity available: 4 mic/line, 12 analogue, 4 digital stereo AES/EBU (AES3), 2 digital stereo USB, 2 optional telephone lines, and optional digital multi-channel audio links; 16 AoIP channels over two Ethernet connectors or 64 MADI channels input over optical fibre. Its output capacity is also surprising: 8 analogue, 4 digital stereo AES/EBU (AES3), 2 digital stereo USB, 2 optional telephone lines, optional digital multi-channel audio links; 16 AoIP channels on two Ethernet connectors or 64 MADI channels input via fibre optics, control headphones, primary and secondary studio headphones, control monitoring, studio monitoring and special output for CUE speakers pair.

This AEQ CAPITOL digital console is integrated via IP with the VisualRadio RADIOPIX system so that the operations on the audio mixer, as well as the levels of the voices and signals that it handles internally, generate automatic commands to the VisualRadio system to generate a video signal about what is happening in the radio studio in an unattended way. With this solution perfectly integrated into the operation of the radio station, a high quality video signal is achieved enriching Premier Radio's offer,
which can be followed in streaming from the station's website. Premier Radio can now not only be heard, but also seen.

Finally, the AEQ AUDIOPLUS automation system offers features, adapted to the real needs, technical skills and purchasing power of most stations. It incorporates tools for manual, automatic and remote-controlled broadcasting, automatic music and advertising programming, as well as content generation and editing. In addition, AEQ has specific software solutions for most of its hardware products, such as remote control, management and monitoring systems.

The project is completed with the supply of technical material for the transmission facility, where Premier Radio's management has once again relied on Spanish material such as OMB equipment based in Zaragoza.

Thanks to all these new technology Premier Radio reach new audiences in the Kano region, and in less than 6months their market share is over 2 million persons.
