BCN Chooses Broadpeak for Groundbreaking IPTV and OTT Delivery in India
- 17 June, 2022
FRA: Broadpeak, a leading provider of content delivery network (CDN) and video streaming solutions for content providers and pay-TV operators worldwide, has announced that Indian multiple-system operator (MSO) Bhimavaram Community Network (BCN) has selected Broadpeak to power its groundbreaking new live video and VOD OTT service. Broadpeak will provide BCN with a comprehensive offering for multicast and unicast streaming, including its nanoCDN™ multicast ABR solution to optimize the delivery of live video for millions of simultaneous viewers on a wide range of devices, including RDK set-top boxes (STBs).
“This will be the world’s first deployment of multicast ABR technology on an RDK STB for video streaming, and Asia’s first deployment of RDK STBs, which shows we are at the forefront of delivering world-class OTT experiences,” said Srinivas Raju Rudraraju, founder and Managing Director at Bhimavaram Community Network. “We are partnering with Broadpeak based on the company’s pioneering involvement in multicast ABR technology implementations, its expertise in both mABR and unicast delivery, and its strong knowledge of RDK integration. With nanoCDN we can deliver a high quality of experience to a million subscribers while cost-effectively managing the consumption peaks in our live service.”
Broadpeak’s nanoCDN solution relies on a software agent installed inside the RDK STBs to receive and translate multicast streams into unicast, drastically reducing delivery costs and allowing BCN to avoid costly unicast traffic peaks in the network. nanoCDN ensures the highest QoE possible for BCN’s OTT service by leveraging automated retransmission in the case of packet loss.
Additionally, BCN will use Broadpeak’s BkM100 Video Delivery Manager, BkS400 HTTP Video Cache Servers, BkS350 Origin Packager, BkA100 Video Delivery Analytics, and BkA200 Video Delivery Monitoring to deliver live and VOD content to subscribers.
“We’re excited to join forces with BCN and help unleash a new cutting-edge video streaming service in South Asia,” said Jacques Le Mancq, CEO at Broadpeak. “We’ve seen great traction for multicast ABR and several deployments in APAC. With nanoCDN, BCN joins other leaders in tapping into the efficiency of multicast ABR and making live OTT video delivery to any device scalable, reducing video delivery costs and improving QoE for subscribers.”
